Absolutely the best tacos I've had in HR hands down Ask for a side of Jalapeño La Crema...... (Pic posted) New to the Hood River line up of Taqueria's this Summer and on track to establish is self as one of the best. Don't expect it fast just be patient and experience some of the best homemade Mexican food around.....

I am ruined for any other Mexican restaurants in town. Lake Taco cooks and seasons everything to perfection, and you really can't go wrong, no matter what you order. My favorite here is the Lake Taco Burrito- with chorizo. Spicy and wonderful. Seating can be a bit cramped, but please don't let that scare you off... You've GOT to try this place! It's family run, and they are polite, and if you are also polite, they will cater to some odd adjustments to your food order.

Lake Taco makes a legit burrito. I've been mostly disappointed with the weird rice and overly cheesy Mexican food offerings in Hood River and White Salmon and so I was super excited to find Lake Taco. I'm now looking forward to trying more items on the menu but can happily vouch for the lake burrito and tacos + home made salsa = Ef'Yeah!

We were looking for some authentic Mexican cuisine before heading back to Portland. Lake Taco did not disappoint! Excellent, approachable service & passion for quality. I chose the chorizo and asada tacos and they totally conquered the craving!

Awesome Place for good authentic Mexican food. Looks like it's family runned and operated. It's somewhat of a new place in town, but much better thant "all the other mexican resturants" around HR. And the best thing is....It's cheap!!! Tacos are $2.25! Compared to $3.75 at other places. If you want awesome food and at a killer price go here! Don't be fooled by all the other tourist traps in town. Kinda hard to get too, the owners should invest in bigger signs fersure.

Handmade soft and chewy corn tortillas, an array of salsas, and welcoming staff. I love everything about this hidden gem, including it's clever name. Get the Morena, basically a tortilla grilled cheese with carne asada...whoa.

Hands down, one of the best places in town. Amazing food, prepared by amazing people. If you could try only one place in hood river, this would be a great choice. I personally suggest Bombaso, order it for there and 86 the silverware

Absolutely excellent! Just what we've been looking for, excellent authentic Mexican food prepared to order. It's not fast but not terribly slow, home made tortillas, serve your own salsas and generous but reasonable portions!

OMG. So good. Came for lunch. Coming back for dinner. I ate the veggie torta- amazing. My husband ordered the veggie burrito- very good and it came with fresh potato chips! My mom got the morena and I would highly recommend it all!

We love the authentic food made with love at Lake Taco! Everything is so fresh and flavorful and the prices are good. The seating is pretty limited, so I hope there are plans to expand or change that.

After walking around in circles for a spell and turning into the parking lot of a hearing aid store, we said out loud (no pun intended) that we wouldn't still be searching if we weren't looking for a taco place. I'm so glad we persevered because tucked behind the hearing aid store is the glorious Lake Taco. The owners were so sweet and recommended a chorizo torta that sounded great. Next time I will try that but all of their tortillas are made with fresh masa from La Cascada up the street and we wanted to try those. We had 'La Morena' which was like a super thick tortilla with perfectly charred carne asada and lots of melty cheese grilled to perfection. We aslo had shrimp and chorizo tacos. Both were good but that "La Morena" made us come back the next day. They served us up some freshly fried potato chips with hot sauce and lemon which were an interesting break from the standard but I think they would also do an amazing homemade tortilla chip. hint hint, Lake Taco. They are in the process of getting a liquor licence so soon you can have beer. This place is just what Hood River needs. All lake Taco needs is some better signage.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
